Today, Ash Wednesday, I’ve been on a reportage for the Servus-Magazin in Schmidmühlen (Oberpfalz) for visiting the “Fischzug”.
There are around 40 men in black suites, walking silently through the village from pub to pub. Just inside the pub they’re allowed to speak. At the end of the day, after 10 pubs and around 400 l of beer the community bury the carnival in a symbolic way. (Simple explication of a 200 years old tradition)
During the day it is just allowed to eat fish and bread.
Never heard about this before - GREAT!
